Description:

SIOUX WHO FOUGHT WITH GERONIMO SIGNS HIS MEMOIRS
Very rare signed and inscribed copy of I Fought With Geronimo, Harrisburg: The Stackpole Co., 1959. First edition, signed and dated "Complements of Jason Betzinez 1959" on the front flyleaf. Betzinez's memoir is from the days when he fought alongside his cousin, Geronimo in some of the most famous events of the Indian Wars. The lifelong associate of Geronimo relives his years in the Chiricahua Apaches' struggle for survival in the years when they were pursued by armies under Crook and Miles. He participated in Geronimo's eventual surrender to Miles, survived the Chiricahua's imprisonment in Florida, attended the Carlisle Indian School in Pennsylvania, and in 1900 joined his people at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, where they continued to languish in exile as prisoners of war. Fine, with very good dust jacket.
