Description:

author of numerous short stories most notably his stories of Tevye, the Russian Jewish milkman popularized in the musical and movie Fiddler on the Roof. Rare and good content A.L.S. "Shalom Aleichem" 1p. on a 5 1/2" x 3" postcard, Italy, Feb. 3, 1909 in Yiddish to a young author lending his support, first thanking the recipient for his wishes on his fiftieth birthday celebration. In part: "...I thank you...for your writing and wishes for my jubilee. I hope you will do all that is within our talents and abilities to develop...You are still young and the big world lies before you. The main thing is to work, work, work, long and a lot, with patience...I am not...still permitted to write and I therefore bless you in friendship...". Written in purple ink. Light soiling, otherwise very good condition.
