Delightful, beautifully-penned A.Q.S. on a large sheet, Rome Apr. 28, 1846, in full: "A violet dreamt in the night that it stood at the gates of Eden, lifted up to the beloved's breast, the dream became reality H. C. Andersen". The quatrain was originally published as "A bouquet of violets" in his "Fifty Short Poems", although our first line differs from the original. With a neatly penned German translation in another hand beneath. Very fine condition, suitable for framing.
