Description:

SEMION M. BUDENNY
(1883 - 1973) Soviet field marshal and Commander in Chief of the Southwestern Front. An inept leader, Budenny allowed Von Rundstedt's army to divide and nearly destroy his command. A most attractive partly-printed D.S. 1p. 10" x 14", a 1947 citation issued in 1947 to Major Tatarinov for winning third prize in a racing competition. Magnificently bordered with multi-colored illustrations of Cossacks on horseback, engravings of Stalin and Lenin at the top, city and agricultural vignettes, and so forth. Boldly signed by Bundenny in bright blue ink. Moderately wrinkled with moderate central fold, still would frame beautifully. One of the more unusual of these documents that we have seen.
