ERICH BUSCH
(1885 - 1945) German field marshal, served under List during the invasion of Poland and the following year led the German 16th Army during the Western Offensive. Defeated in Russia, he was sacked by Hitler, recalled to defend Montgomery's advance, and died in a POW camp after capture. Rare A.L.S. 1p. legal 4to., May 1, 1940, to Schobert on his General of Infantry letterhead, in part: "...Hearty thanks for the cask of May Bock [beer]. We will be thinking of you today. Soon I will be hearing 'Germany awake, England evaporate'. Consider the flask of cognac as a modest reciprocation...". Light offsetting and a couple of small tears at margin, otherwise very good condition. This letter appears on p. 284 of Charles Hamilton's classic book Leaders and Personalities of the Third Reich".

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made.
