CARLTON S. DARGUSCH (b. 1900) American brigadier general who was the Chief of the Manpower Division and the Deputy Director of Selective Service during World War II. His war-date US Army, 1942 Pattern, Officer's, Summer, Tropical Worsted, Khaki, Service Coat, constructed of a very high quality and very light-weight khaki twill material, closed at the front with four brass buttons. Each lower sleeve has the khaki color mohair cloth rings indicating officer's status. Sewn on each shoulder epaulette is a single gold bullion embroidered general's star insignia that was first embroidered on a khaki cloth backing and then sewn on the epaulette. They have nicely aged to a beautiful dark brown patina. Pinned to his left breast is a ribbon bar of two award ribbons, and below that is a second ribbon bar of three award ribbons, each with the correct style of clutch backs. The upper lapels bear a matching and hallmarked set of 'U.S.' insignia. The interior lining is of the summer weight half-lining type and is in excellent condition. There is a cloth bevo-type tailor's tag found sewn inside that reads: 'Custom Imperial, Lewis & Thos. Saltz, Washington'. Inside the inside breast pocket is another cloth tag that reads: 'Lewis & Thos. Saltz, Washington D.C.', on which Dargusch has added his name 'Mr. Col Dargusch' in red ink. With two pages of biographical career information, a large photo of General Dargusch in his chocolate uniform, and a bright gold bullion General's campaign hat cord. Fine condition overall. From a major private collection on public display.

Shipments are sent via FedEx and DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option. Due to complications from the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we will ship with USPS Priority Mail only if the buyer submits their request to us in writing and accepts responsibility for delayed shipments. Signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
