Description:

SEIZING A NEW ORLEANS OFFICER'S PROPERTY
War-date Union manuscript D.S., 1p. tall folio, "Office Supervising Special Agent, 5th Agency, New Orleans, July 5, 1864", and listing nearly twenty items "captured by the Forces of the United States" from the residence of "Brig. Gen'l. Fusiler, C. S. A.". The total estimated value of all the seized property amounts to $541.00. Signed by U. S. Treasury Department special agent Benjamin F. Flanders. A great look at just another example of the Union's seizure of Southern property in New Orleans that led that city's citizens to hate their Federal occupiers!
