Roosevelt, awarded the Nobel Prize for his work in establishing the United Nations. T.N.S., 1p. 4to., Washington, D.C., Jan. 11, 1943, to Secretary of the Senate Edwin A. Halsey, thanking him for his note transmitting a clipping from the Philadelphia Inquirer. Hull signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good to fine. WITH: EDWARD R. STETTINIUS, JR. (1900-1949) American businessman who served as Secretary of State under presidents Roosevelt and Truman, and as first Ambassador to the United Nations. T.L.S., 1p. 8vo., Washington, D.C., Jan. 15, 1944, to Mrs. Margaret H. Williams, informing her that he has autographed a copy of his book on "Lend-Lease" for an acquaintance, and hopes to arrange its British publication. He signs boldly at the conclusion in black ink. Shows original mailing folds, else very good to fine. Also present are the original transmittal envelope and a retained copy of Mrs. Williams' initial letter. Four pieces overall.
