Description:

SECOND PATTERN LUFTWAFFE GENERAL'S DISPLAY SWORD
A fabulous and most desirable piece, an Eickhorn salesman's example of the second pattern Luftwaffe general's sword, 41.75 in. overall, with a bright finished blade by German maker Carl Eickhorn with the firm's trademark stamped on the ricasso. It features an elaborate brass gilt hilt and crossguard with a Luftwaffe eagle clamshell, and yellow celluloid grip with a tight brass wire wrap. The blade is etched with an ornate geometric pattern, the German text ‘Original Eickhorn Blanke Waffen' on the front, and a facsimile of Hermann Goring's signature with his rank: ‘Der Oberbefehlshaber der Luftwaffe‘ on the reverse. The untouched black leather scabbard has gilded fittings at both ends. Although for being a sales/display sword, it is not of the same quality as an issued piece, but a rare chance to own this second pattern sword. Fewer examples of these swords were made, than were the actual issued pieces. Both the sword and scabbard are in as-new condition.
