Description:

(b. 1944) Long-time member of the Manson Family and a close friend of Lynette ‘Squeaky' Fromme. Good was in jail with Mary Brunner for attempting to use stolen credit cards when the Tate/La Bianca murders took place, but was arrested at Spahn Ranch during the August 16th raid. In 1975 Good was sentenced to 15 years for sending death threats, and was paroled in 1985. A.Ms. (unsigned), 6pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], to Charles Manson. In part: ‘...Since Heather left, I've been locked up in my room...When I heard about Heather leaving and the guard getting hurt, I felt mad and drained of energy...a male cop reflected anger on me for the young woman cop getting hurt – her ear cut etc...I blurted out to the male cop that she is not a family member – that we don't hurt cops...her move was not of us and that if she was represented in the media as being us then her move would fall bad on police as well as us...She has seen me as her mom for a long time...I had been real hard on her about taking pills from the doctor (Pain Pills) while she was here on this side and nearly the whole time she was here she was sick with one thing or another. I got sick of her...my first reaction was I wished no cop had been hurt especially that one...the guards are 50 times nicer than my mom ever was...that bitch that took Heather I don't know much about but I feel she has a male ego and is competing with me – you and everyone...She never indicated to me that she was even thinking about splitting...On my last letter to you, I can see where I was off – a reflection of me reflecting others judgements...I know not to hold anyone up over my own but I could see how other colors would have similar judgements and feelings...What did you mean ‘and as for working in circle thoughts with Red, where did you earn those thoughts and you can't get off on Red forever, shes got her own circle to work with' What do you mean?...Since I've been locked down Sarah Moore's [another attempted assasin of Gerald Ford] been real friendly...two San Francisco T.V. stations have asked to have interviews with her...Red [Lynette Fromme] sent some money to you...Red says text tells them (minister and his wife) that he loves her and prays for her every day...Heather is like a kid. You tell her not to do something, she does it. I should have spoke in reverse...I feel guilty...but...How much forgiveness do I get...' Good continues her letter in blue ink, in part: ‘...Another whale (baby) died today) news said a shark got it over. News said the people beat the shark with oars...If there wasn't the shark to beat, the people would have beat the whale. I wonder why I felt bad the female cop got beat when every little and big wildlife is beat to death...Is she more than a whale or a redwood...' With her personal emendations throughout. Mailing folds, else fine. Accompanied by a newspaper clipping titled ‘Squeaky's Friend Escapes Prison' detailing the prison break of Susan K. Murphy, a former roommate of both Good and Lynette Fromme. Also with the original holograph envelope.
