Description:

(b. 1944) Long-time member of the Manson Family and a close friend of Lynette ‘Squeaky' Fromme. Good was in jail with Mary Brunner for attempting to use stolen credit cards when the Tate/La Bianca murders took place, but was arrested at Spahn Ranch during the August 16th raid. In 1975 Good was sentenced to 15 years for sending death threats and was paroled in 1985. T.L.S. ‘S', 2pp. 4to., [n.p.], July 5, 1976, to Charles Manson. In part: ‘...I thought I'd spare you the word garbage for this week cause often its[sic] just dribble from a cluttered brain. But I'm going to keep you posted on bees brain-its progression, regression, dissolution, resolution and its interaction with the other brains and vibes at T.I...The money makes the man...its dam [sic] near impossible at this stage in the game to communicate to the money mind...I'm a rare creature who likes the truth even though it's painful...Our manner of speaking is ‘insane, Naively idealistic, bitter', and 10 thousand other labels to discount what no one wants to face...I cannot communicate with women as they are in the money mind and I'm of the state of mind to blame women. Then I pick up the paper and read of these ‘battered women centers' where women go for refuge...I sort of see the roots of that-the church and the dudes' insecurities behind being low on the money ladder and the women are the good long suffering ones...If I was where red is I'd be going thru 9000 changes and would probably bee[sic] grumpy and bitchy...for my own survival I gotta [sic] learn to slow my mind...I think a lot of guys get so used to doing time with guys that they get to prefer the company of guys and in a way go back to the joint to renew old friendships and rap the way guys do. I think for the guys who aren't just looking for a lay, women make them uncomfortable in a way cause they don't know what to talk about...Maybe a woman is to wear and show the fruits of their capers...When heroin addiction is involved it seems the quality and sophistication of the caper is lessened and the diamond wearing siren becomes a part time drunken shrew...my presence usually puts attention on me and the conversation is just jokes and off the wall remarks usually related to sex...' Good tapes a picture of a bee at the conclusion and adds two brief notes in her hand about growing up in the poor Irish section of San Francisco. Mailing folds, lightly chipped at the left edge, else very good.
