Description:
SADDAM HUSSEIN (1937 - 2006) President of Iraq who, in 1979, led Arab opposition to the Camp David Accords between Israel and Egypt. Under Hussein's direction, Iraq invaded Iran in 1980, in an attempt to gain control of the Strait of Hormuz. The attack led to a war of attrition, during which Hussein quelled a Kurdish uprising by the widespread use of chemical weapons. Partly-printed D.S. in Arabic on mint green letterhead, 1p. legal folio, untranslated, but apparently a letter of state. Tiny file holes at right margin, else fine.
