437. FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT  A rare set of books, one inscribed, The Public papers and Addresses of Franklin D. Roosevelt, (New York: Random House, 1938), first edition, five volumes in blue cloth with gilt lettering on spine and front covers. A rare complete set, includes: 1928-1932 The Genesis of the New Deal; 1933 The Year of Crisis; 1934 The Advance of Recovery and Reform; 1935 The Court Disapproves; and 1936 The People Approve. The first volume is boldly inscribed on the front flyleaf: "For George Durno - who has 'seen' with his own eyes - Franklin D. Roosevelt". Some toning at gutters, spines lightly soiled, else bindings are tight, pages very clean, and overall very good. Durno was a reporter with the International News Service and had covered Roosevelt for years.  $1,000 - 1,500
