438. FRANKLIN D. ROOSEVELT Fine V.M.I content T.L.S. as President, 1p. 4to., Washington, Jan. 15, 1938, to noted Marine Corps general John A. Lejeune, in part: "...I am delighted to have your thoughtful letter...V.M.I. has a history and traditions which make it worthy of loyal support by all who have at heart the welfare of youth and it is a satisfaction to know that the PWA projects were of such help...". Mounted to another sheet, with a bit wrinkling as a result. On verso are two original 7" x 5" sepia photographs showing "Commandant's House Marine Barracks Washington DC", and another entitled "This is where we lived eight-year", likely in the hand of Lejeune's wife. $700 - 900
