Description:

RICHARD M. NIXON (NEEDS DESCRIPTION)
(1913 - 1994) Thirty-seventh President of the United States who led during the Vietnam War, re-opened diplomatic ties with China and the U.S.S.R., resigned his office due to the Watergate scandal. Superb content T.L.S. "Richard Nixon" on his personal letterhead, 1p., 4to., Woodcliff Lake, Sep. 18, 1989. The elder statesman mentions whom he considers one of America's greatest presidents and the League of Nations. In part: "...It was very kind of you to send me the autographed copy of Woodrow Wilson's book about the League of Nations...I consider Wilson to be one of our greatest Presidents, in part because of the vision of a more stable world embodied in the League of Nations concept. Had the League come to fruition, I do not believe it would have solved the world's problems any more than the UN has. But I do believe that the course that led so tragically to World War II might have had a chance of being changed...I have just completed my own eighth book...[and] I quote Wilson on a number of issues..." Fine.
