REPUBLIC OF TEXAS SLAVE BILL OF SALE Rare manuscript D.S., 1p. 4to., Montgomery Co., "Republic of Texas", Apr. 3, 1843, in which Samuel McGowan purchases from Stephen McClerny six slaves for the sum of $1,200.00, to wit: "...Bob...Claibon...Edy...Louisa...Caty...and a girl child Ann about 15 months old, and I hereby warrant said negroes free from all disease and sound of body and mind and I further agree to forever warrant and defend the title...". Witnessed by two at bottom. Very good. Any Texas slave document is scarce; those from the Republic of Texas even more so. $300 - 500
