700. RECRUITING GEORGIA TROOPS, 1862 Good content A.L.S. of Lt. W. J. Solomon, recruiting officer of the 14th Georgia Regiment to Governor Joseph E. Brown of Georgia discussing the difficulty in recruiting more men for the regiment. He writes in part: "I have just returned home from my Company at Mannassa [sic], Va. for the purpose of getting recruits. And as you have issued an order for this County to furnish 138 Men. And I find it will be very difficult to get men for fear that they will not be counted in the quota of men that this County has to furnish..." Written on Confederate patriotic stationery.
