PORFIRIO DIAZ
(1830 - 1915) President of Mexico whose dictatorial regime managed to bring peace and prosperity to Mexico until he was overthrown by Madero. Partly-printed D.S. as President in Spanish with official Mexican government seals and stamps from the Secretarua de Fomenta, Colonizacion e Industria, 4pp. folio, Mexico City, July 12, 1899, titled "Titulo Numero 9858" in which Diaz authorizes the Descubridora Mining and Foundry Company, formed by former Arizona legislator DAVID GOUGH and a subsidiary of William Rockefeller's American Smelting and Refining Company (ARASCO), to mine the Descubidora area A in Mexico's Durango region. Gough (would remain in Descubridora and purchase Area B from Diaz in 1901 for the newly-formed Mexico Mining and Smelting Company. Along with a surveyed plan for mining operations signed by Gough, dated Nov. 5, 1898. Slight yellowing at edges and moderate creasing and separations, very good condition. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
