Rare grouping of 26 documents, certificates, and photographs belonging to Ewald Muelke, a German soldier who served as a Kriegsmarine machinist and a police Oberwachtmeister throughout the war. The lot includes: a certificate of recognition for special services in the field of mechanical engineering, 1p. 8vo., [n.p.], 1935, signed by Captain CONRAD PATZIG (1888-1975), later to become the first captain of the ill-fated German cruiser ADMIRAL GRAF SPEE; award certificate for the Kriegsmarine 4-year Long Service Medal, 1p. 4to., Kiel, July 1, 1937, slight folds throughout; two large police promotion documents, 4p. large folio, Braunschweig, dated July 1, 1939 and July 26, 1940, slight folds throughout; award certificate for the Sudetenland Commemorative Medal, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Apr. 4, 1940, with facsimile signature of Otto Meissner; certificate for the Police 8-year Long Service Award, 1p. 4to., Berlin, Apr. 25, 1941, with facsimile signature of Otto Meissner; certificate for the War Merit Cross, Second Class with Swords, 1p. 8vo., Paris, Sept. 1, 1941, signed by Konteradmiral JOACHIM LIETZMANN (1894-1959); certificate for the Minesweeper War Badge, 1p. 8vo., [Saint Quinten?], signed by Vizeadmiral and Commanding Admiral for the Atlantic JOACHIM LIETZMANN; and a Croatian Ante Pavelica bravery medal certificate, 4pp. 8vo., Zagreb, Apr. 20, 1944, slight wear and toning throughout. Except where noted, very good condition. In addition, the lot includes several documents from the Braunschweig Polizeiprasident, a labor office registration card, service certificates, baptismal records, marriage certificates, a postwar certificate of discharge dated Nov. 14, 1945, and two wedding pictures of Muelke wearing his medals and Minesweeper Badge.
