Excellent collection of photographs and wartime ephemera from the estate of Pfc. Milton D. Elwood, a crewman attached to the 106th Aero Squadron, which engaged enemy forces in New Guinea, the Solomon Islands, Bismarck Archipelago, on Leyte, Luzon and Mindanao, and in the Philippine Campaign and in southeast China. Present are 19 excellent original images of various sizes, including B-24s, B-25s, P-38s (including two squadron mates), many showing nose art, a plane that crash-landed due to damaged nose gear, funeral and cemetary at Paulau, etc.. Also included: English/Malaysian printed card to be given natives if the bearer were captured asking that the crewman be kept safe; a sheet of Malay terms in English; 5th and 13th Air Force shoulder patches; ribbon bars and sergeant's stripes, ration book, Chinese currency; ship-board newspaper from the USS HERALD OF THE MORNING, July 3, 1945, news, etc. and a warning against gambling; similar newspaper from repatriation vessel U.S.S. ADM. HUGH RODMAN, Mar. 2, 1946, and a copy of the "Jungle Air Force in the News" newspaper, June, 1945. Overall very good to fine.
