Large lot of 130 photographs, mostly 8" x 10" b/w, with some smaller and some in color, depicting a wide variety of warships from the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the World War II era, and the Cold War era. American ships depicted include: protected cruiser U.S.S. CONCORD; torpedo boat U.S.S. BAGLEY; protected cruiser U.S.S. BOSTON; steam sloop U.S.S.GALENA; protected cruiser U.S.S. HELENA; sidewheel gunboat U.S.S. MONOCACY; gunboat U.S.S. RANGER; torpedo boat U.S.S. MACKENZIE; U.S.S. ANCON, the command ship for the Normandy landings during World War II; patrol boat U.S.S.NATCHEZ; patrol frigates of the TACOMA class; attack transport U.S.S. BARNSTABLE; landing ship U.S.S. ASHLAND; launching photos of the destroyer U.S.S. JOHN W. THOMASON; many views of the missile destroyer, U.S.S. HOEL; U.S.S. PANAMINT, a headquarters ship for the atomic tests at Bikini Atoll; battleship U.S.S. WISCONSIN; aircraft carrier U.S.S. ANTIETAM; missile destroyer U.S.S. FITZGERALD; heavy cruiser U.S.S. BOSTON; destroyer U.S.S. CHARLES P. CECIL, which famously challenged a Soviet submarine during the Cuban Missile Crisis; destroyer U.S.S. MCCAFFERY; missile cruiser U.S.S. MISSISSIPPI; and others. Specific views of interest include a Navy landing craft set aside for the press at Iwo Jima; admiral Chester Nimitz''s relief ceremony aboard the submarine U.S.S. MENHADEN; a view of soldiers aboard a landing craft observing enemy aircraft off Bougainville; landing craft bombarding an enemy position with rockets; helmsmen aboard the U.S.S. HARTFORD during the Civil War; a flight of Grumman TBF Avenger torpedo bombers; and a view of the Navy Yard at New York in 1908. Ships of other navies depicted here include the Israeli ships MISGAV and HAGANAH; the post-World War II Japanese patrol frigates BUNA and KASHI; the Dominican destroyer GENERALISSIMO; and several unidentified Mexican frigates. Also present are two 4 1/2" x 5" b/w negatives, one depicting four navy airmen in front of a PBY Catalina, and the other possibly depicting wreckage on a rocky beach. Many of the photographs bear identifying back stamps on ink notations. Very good.

Shipments are sent via USPS Priority, USPS International Priority, DHL (for most overseas shipments) or FedEx Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature is always required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling and shipping charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyers should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. International shipments are invoiced by DIMENSIONAL weight, not the item weight. Please contact us for an estimate before bidding NOTE: Large, heavy or bulky items may not be shipped by the auctioneer - arrangements for shipping of these items via a third-party shipper may be arranged through the auction house. Customers who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee. Please allow 2-3 weeks for shipments after receipt of payment due to the high volume of packages being shipped.
