(1733 - 1804) American Revolution major general commanding the northern department, member of the Continental Congress and one of the first senators from New York. A.L.S. 2pp. 4to., Albany, Oct. 28, 1797 to John J. Van Reseller concerning money owed: "...As I have urgent Occasion for a sum of money at present I request you to discharge the principal and interest due on your and Colo: Henry J. Van Renselaears bond to me without delay, please inform me of the day, (which I expect will be an early one) on which you will call and discharge that debt...". With integral address leaf, filled-out in his hand. Usual folds, light toning, else very good.
