PETER MUHLENBERG
(1746-1807) Revolutionary War brigadier general and clergyman who served under von Steuben and aided in the assaults on Stony Point and Yorktown. Partly-printed D.S., 1p., oblong 8vo., Philadelphia, Feb.19, 1802, a customs certificate as supervisor of the Port of Philadelphia. The document notes that the brig "Lovely Lass" imported 62 pounds of hyson skin tea into Philadelphia. Boldly signed, "P. Muhlenberg". In 1802, Thomas Jefferson appointed Muhlenberg as customs collector for Philadelphia. Light toning and foxing, overall very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry.
