PEOPLE'S AIR RAID PREPAREDNESS POSTERS (20)
Excellent, complete group of twenty (20) color posters, each 30" x 20 1/2", "People's Air Preparedness #1", issued by the Office of the Beijing People's Air Raid Preparedness Leading Group, 1970. The first poster is a full-sized depiction of a farmer and soldier with rifles and a "barefoot nurse" with a medical bag, beneath a pair of Chinese jet fighters. Each interior poster is comprised of three or more scenes, depicting methods of camoflaging trucks and rifle pits, blackout measures, warning systems, firefighting methods, morale-boosting measures, first aid and field hosptals, civilian rifle training, anti-aircraft weapons, subterranean shelters, citizens taking cover under bridges and in culverts, and a myriad other scenes. The final poster in the serious depicts the same three figures from the first poster, in heroic poses over the wreckage of their city. No information indicated as to size or number of print run. With original brown paper mailing envelope. One small tear at margin of first poster, else as new. From a single collection obtained entirely in China pre-2000.
