Description:

PENNSYLVANIA MILFORD & OWEGO TURNPIKE ROAD COMPANY STOCK CERTIFICATES (11)
Good lot of eleven early partly-printed stock certificates on laid paper, each approx. 6.5 x 4.5 in., for the Milford & Owego Turnpike Road Company, which operated in Wayne County, Pennsylvania. Ten of the eleven certificates are issued on the same date, Jan. 6, 1812, all to Jonathan West, and are signed by the company's president, Robert H. Ross, and its treasurer, Isaac Post. All are sequentially numbered 122 to 131 at top right, and are blind-embossed with the company's seal. All are further endorsed on the verso as being transferred to Christopher L. Ward on Oct. 18, 1833. The final certificate, dated Feb. 3, 1819 and numbered 2100 at top right, sells one share of stock to Salmon Bosworth, and is signed by Ross as president and Pitman Catlin as treasurer. It is also endorsed on the verso, transferring the share to Christopher Ward on Jan. 7, 1841. All are somewhat toned and show folds, with most also showing small tears at the top edge, otherwise in very good condition.
