PENNSYLVANIA GENERALS APPROVE PAYMENT FOR REBEL DAMAGE IN THE STATE
Most uncommon partly-printed D.S., 1p. small folio, [Harrisburg], Jan. 1, 1872, a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania receipt for citizen Henry Stouffer's claim of $300 in damages made under the provisions of a state act: "...to authorize the liquidation of damages sustained by citizens...during the late rebellion...". The vertificate is signed at bottom by the Governor, ex-Union General JOHN W. GEARY, and by the Auditor General, his fellow Union General JOHN F. HARTRANFT". Fine condition.
