(1754 - 1801) Emperor of Russia (1796-1801), son of Peter III and Catherine the Great who succeeded Catherine, instituted reforms to help the serfs, angering the nobility. Assassinated. Rare manuscript L.S. "Paul", 1p. 4to., Gatchina, Oct. 6, 1797, in French to Gen. Alexander von Benjendorf, in part: "...I authorize you, according to the terms of your letter of October 2, to undertake the expenses you deem necessary. You will be reimbursed the money after you submit your reports to me. I pray God he keep you in His Holy and worthy protection...". Very good.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
