PAUL CLAUDEL
(1868 - 1955) French poet and dramatist known for his religiously-based plays. Two pieces, the first an A.L.S. penned as French ambassador to Tokyo on official letterhead, 1p. 8vo., Washington, Apr. 16, 1927, to Mr. Leach, in part: "...Excuse me if I could not make to you any sign of life when I was in New York. pressure of business is a word of which you do not appreciate the meaning until you are in America...". Along with a brief A.L.S. as Ambassador of France dated 1928, sending a message penned on the interior page, in part: "...May the 'Tidings Brought to Many' be brought to every heart whom this Christmas Eve will hear through distance and time the bells of Monsauvierge singing on a new born's cradle: Glory to God in high places and peace on earth to all men of good will. Still the glory of God is a greater need than the good will of men. I wish every success to your enterprise". Rusted paper clip impression at top, otherwise very good condition. Two pieces.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
