OSCAR I
(1799-1859) King of Sweden and Norway (1844-1859), his reign introduced reforms, especially freedom of the press, and improved Sweden's economic position. Fine manuscript L.S. "Oscar" as King, in Latin, 1p. folio, Royal Palace at Stockholm, Mar. 9, 1855, to Ferdinand II, King of the Two Sicilies, extending his congratulations to the King on learning of the "birth of a Princes...to the beloved wife of Drepanus Comite Franciscus de Paola, the very dear Brother of Your Majesty…". Franciscus, the Count of Trapani, was the youngest brother of the King. An ornately penned document, bearing a large signature, with separate address leaf bearing a large impression of the King's white-paper and wax Royal Seal. Very small fold breaks, otherwise in very good condition. Scarce.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
