'OPERATION NURSERY' WERWOLF COUNTERINTELLIGENCE REPORT
A superb content U.S. Army CICI typed report detailing the actions of an Allied counterintelligence operation codenamed 'Nursery' whose goal was to penetrate underground Nazi organizations in occupied Germany. The report is 6pp. 4to., [n.p., n.d], and marked 'Secret' at the top of each page. It reads in part: '...Through expert concealment of their activities on behalf of the Nazi party, a ring of personalities who had formerly held high positions in the Hitler Jugend attempted to carry on subversive activities under the cover of legitimate business enterprises. The organization was penetrated by a date soon after its foundation...Early in April 1945, Artur Axmann, a Reichsleiter of the NSDAP and National Leader of the Hitler Jugend directed...to organize systematic operations designed to support anticipated Werewolf activities...Axmann realized that any organization would need some sort of adequate on the surface cover and means of communication...he directed Willi Heidemann...to take at least a million Reichsmarks from Hitler Jugend funds and to proceed South...[Heidemann] set up a firm by the name of Christian Tessman and Sons...as a means of transport and a line of communication for Werewolf activities...on 7 January 1946, Willi Heidemann and seven of his closest associates in the business enterprises were arrested...So carefully did the agents disguise these arrests that not one person on the primary target list was able to flee the trap...' Much more. Artur Axmann (1913-1996) was the German Nazi national leader (Reichsjugendführer) of the Hitler Youth from 1940 to the war's end in 1945. Moderately toned with scattered foxing, file holes to the left margin.
