Description:

NUREMBERG WAR CRIMES TRIALS, 'I. G. FARBEN' CASE NO. 6 COURT PROGRAM
Rare program given to those attending the Allied Military Tribunals, Case No. 6, 16pp. 4to., Nuremberg, ca. 1947-48, as issued by the Public Relations Office, Office of the Chief Counsel. The text of the program sets forth the indictment levied against the defendants, as set forth by Brig. Gen. and Chief of Counsel for War Crimes, TELFORD TAYLOR on May 3, 1947. In the middle of the text appears a seating diagram of the courtroom, including the location of the tribunal, defendants, prosecution, defense, and other attendees. Very good. Case No. 6 of the Allied Military Tribunals in Nuremberg, also known as the I.G. Farben Trial (United States v. Karl Krauch, et al.), was one of the 12 subsequent Nuremberg trials held by the United States against German industrialists after the main International Military Tribunal (IMT) concluded. The defendants were charged with war crimes and crimes against humanity, specifically focusing on their roles in supporting the Nazi regime including seizing properties and businesses in occupied territories, using concentration camp labor (specifically at the Auschwitz-Monowitz plant, where I.G. Farben produced rubber and oil), and planning and preparing for war, particularly regarding the production of synthetic aw materials. Most defendants were found guilty on charges related to slavery and plunder, but the sentences were relatively light compared to other trials, with prison terms ranging from 18 months to 8 years for those convicted.
