NEW YORK HERALD REPORTERS ON THE BATTLEFIELD A superb battlefield photograph, 13 1/4" x 9 3/4" sepia, an outdoors view of men who are undoubtedly reporters for the influential daily, the New York Herald. One reporter stands near a wagon painted "N. Y. H. HEADQUARTERS", while the second is in the foreground, dressed in hip boots and a long coat with cap in hand. Beside him an African-American assistant holds his horse, a second stands before two tents pitched near the wagon. The photo comes from the archive of Capt. Andrew J. Russell of 141st NY who was detached from his regiment to record the progress of the construction of military railroads by Gen. Herman Haupt. $800 - 1,200
