MYLES W. KEOGH (1842 - 1876) American military officer, a captain in the 7th Cavalry in command of Co. I. Keogh was the owner of Comanche, the only surviving horse found on the battlefield. Very rare A.L.S "M.W.K.", 4pp. 8vo., Fort Wallace, Ks., Nov. 30, 1864 to his brother Tom in London. In part: "...Gen'l Grant has obtained from the President for me two Brevets, one as Major for gallantry at the battle of Gettysburg & one as Lt. Colonel for gallantry at the battle of Resaca. So I am now a Colonel in the Regular Army & I feel that I have received a full rewards...I am still comparatively young...I have great ideas for you in the future and we will see if our united wisdom cannot devise some scheme for the aggrandizement of our family...Had a deer hunt yesterday and killed a fine buck...".
