MORRIS R. JEPPSON (b. 1923) American Air Corps officer, weaponeer on the Enola Gay with Rear Adm. William Parsons, responsible for arming the Hiroshima atomic bomb during the flight from Tinian to Japan. Fine S.P. 8" x 10" b/w, a reprint on paper stock showing the devastation following the Hiroshima bombing on Aug. 4, 1945, with a lengthy note at top, in full: "The destruction in Hiroshima was comparable with effects from previous bombing raids by hundreds of B29s. What was not known or seen before was the radiation effect. Actually there are two radiation effects: primary hot energy x-rays and gamma rays at the time of the explosion. This burned people and combustible materials - limited to a range of thousands of feet. The second radiation effect is from long life radioactive products of the fission of the U235 explosive.
