Description:

MILTON S. EISENHOWER
(1899 - 1985) Younger brother of President Dwight D. Eisenhower, and a former President of Kansas State, Pennsylvania State, and Johns Hopkins University. Lot of two signed items, includes: T.L.S., 1p., 4to., Manhattan, Kansas, Jun. 15, 1945, to Mr. Kenneth E. Crouch. Eisenhower writes to Mr. Crouch to explain that he cannot return a book autographed by his brother, Dwight D. Eisenhower. In part: "…My brother will have only 24 hours with his Mother and all members of the family following the official reception for him in Abilene. Awaiting his attention are literally a thousand letters and more than a hundred books. You will see that if he took time to handle this mail he would not even have a moment left to visit with Mother and with 25 members of our family who are coming home for a reunion. That is why I am returning all books and similar material before he arrives…"Signature in black ink at conclusion. Folds, else fine. Sold with a second T.L.S. on Kansas State University letterhead, 1p., 4to., Manhattan, Kansas, Feb. 3, 1944, also to Crouch. Eisenhower informs the man that he does not in fact have his older brother, Dwight D. Eisenhower''s address, and that if he writes to the old address, he suspects that the letter may be forwarded. Fine. Two pieces.
