Description:

MICHEL ORDENER
(1775-1811) French General and Commander in the Imperial Guard, led the raid to kidnap the Bourbon Duke d'Enghien, and served throughout the Napoleonic wars, serving with distinction at Austerlitz. Manuscript L.S. ‘Ordener', 1p. legal folio, Paris, ‘4 Frimaire An 10' [Nov. 25, 1801], on his official letterhead to General Antoine Jean August Durosnel, head of the cavalry division at the Ministry of War. Ordener sends a request for three three soldiers to join a new division. Boldly signed at conclusion, with partial transmittal envelope, very good. Though lesser-known than some of his fellow generals, Durosnel (1771-1849) was aide-de-camp to the Napoleon and participated in numerous campaigns which earned him the title of Peer of France. Following the Restoration, he was elected aide-de-camp to Louis Phillipe.
