Description:

LOUIS A. COTULLA (1904-1979) American Army Major General of Engineers. Served as Director of the Construction and Statistical Division, New York Port of Embarkation; Assistant Chief of the Operations Branch; later Chief and Overseas Supply Officer at New York. Post-war, he remained in the service in high-level petroleum and fuel purchasing positions, and in 1951 headed a Quartermaster base at Pusan. He was finally given supply logistical commands in Europe and the U.S. before retiring in 1959. A good uniform grouping including Cotulla's army, 'Coat, Tropical, Worsted, Khaki, Officer's, Pattern Date 3 March 1951, Spec. Number MIL-C-1854, Dated 27 December 1949, N.Y.Q.M.P.A', surprisingly with tags out of chronological order. Two general's stars remain on each epaulette, an 'U.S.' insignia are still on each lapel. Also included is Coltulla's
original 1945-dated trousers which are re-issued type and previously named to 'R.C. Baker' (quite correct). Our consignor added a correct khaki tie, 1948 dated, brown shoes, 1948 dated khaki officer's shirt, post 1955 period field grade officer's peaked service cap. With biographical information and four portrait photographs. Very good. From a major private collection on public display.
