( DOUGLAS MACARTHUR) Large archive containing over 150pp. of letter copies, photocopies, telegrams, newspaper and magazine articles, commemorative booklets, press releases and various documents related and addressed to General Douglas MacArthur etc., originating from a file kept by his secretary while serving him as Chairman of the Board at Sperry Rand Corporation. Including: press release of an address, 7pp, to be given by MacArthur at the 57th Congress of the American Industry; program for a luncheon in honor of MacArthur, signed by Courtney Whitney; text of an address by MacArthur on the occasion of a dedication of a monument to him; letter copy of MacArthur's acceptance of the resignation of his secretary; copy of a White House letter to MacArthur's aide, July 1961, stating that the President (Kennedy) and his secretary Evelyn Lincoln would both like to have personally inscribed photographs of MacArthur; letter copy, Oct. 1944, being an invitation to rejoin the Milwaukee club upon his return to the United States. MacArthur's reply states that he would welcome the opportunity "If I survive the campaign"; a magazine: MacArthur: The Real Story!, 50pp, 1951, a pro-MacArthur publication with a large cover of the general receiving a decoration from Truman; large booklet program commemorating a visit to Dallas on June 15, 1951; booklet: Address on Americanism by MacArthur containing his famous farewell speech before Congress on April 19, 1951; typed exchange of correspondence between MacArthur and the Prime Minister of Japan; Western Union telegram with information on a private viewing following MacArthurdeath in April 1965, etc. Very good. $300 - 400
