Description:

LYNETTE FROMME
(b. 1948) "Squeaky", follower of Charles Manson, later attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford, failing to get a shot off when her gun jammed. A.L.S. "Lynette" 6pp. 4to., [Alderson, W.V.] Mar. 18, [1981] to Ann Marie, writing in part: "...I am writing you like you are a real person -- If you are faking to make money off of me I'll send waves of anger. You communicate well and, in short, I like the style. President Reagan's people are making budget cuts and trying to gather up a lot more money for defense & to keep the economy in balance. News said tonite that what once cost 13 lbs. in England today costs 50 lbs. (pounds). I don't even know what a pound is... Now to your letter. You seem to be a capable well intentioned person but I'm not sure how you'd hold up under a war. What I'm saying is that sometimes it is necessary to be as fierce as you are nice and an awful lot of people hide bad from themselves. Example: We can say that there is much good in human beings -- love, giving, hard work etc. At the same time, human beings have destroyed much of the wild life on earth. Human beings pour their sewage in the waters, clutter up the land with all kinds of useless concrete factories to produce a lot of junk that is unnecessary, hunt animals for fun, sport -- & you should know anything I could say about this. This big oil tankers that spill or discharge tons of oil into our common ocean are destroying more than the world's leaders ever acknowledge & it doesn't take much sense to see where that goes if it is allowed to continue... I don't' write a lot of people. I have gotten many letters but some people only want to take & take & sell. You would be shocked if you saw what I've seen -- newspaper & magazine writers lying for money ... " Much more fine content. Usual folds, else fine condition.
