Description:

(ALBERT H. FISH)
HAMILTON HOWARD "ALBERT" FISH (1870-1936) American serial killer, a child rapist and cannibal, he boasted that he "had children in every state," and at one time put the figure at around 100. However, it is not clear whether he was talking about rapes or cannibalization, less still as to whether he was telling the truth. Fish confessed to three murders that police were able to trace and to stabbing at least two other people. He was convicted of the murder of Grace Budd and executed by electric chair. Three very rare documents from Fish's incarceration, includes an order signed by N.Y. State Supreme Court Justice Frederick P. Close, 1p. legal folio, White Plains, Aug. 19, 1935 permitting Fish's daughter-in-law to visit him "at the death house at Sing Sing Prison", very good (Close had been the presiding judge at Fish's murder trial); a document wrapper from defense attorney Jack Dempsey with his typed entry citing the case, 4" vertical tear; and a typed document, 1p. 4to., [n.p., n.d.], a "STATEMENT UNDER RULE 234" which carefully sums-up Fish's case, noting the dates of his indictment, arraignment, trial (11 days long!), verdict, and sentencing: "...the defendant was duly sentenced to be electrocuted according to the law during the week of April 29, 1935...", crudely repaired with paper tape on verso. Three pieces. Material related to Albert Fish is incredibly rare - virtually nothing has ever appeared on the market.
