Description:

LYMAN LEMNITZER
(1899 - 1988) American general assigned to Eisenhower's staff, helped form the plans for the invasions of North Africa and Sicily and negotiated the Italian and German surrenders, served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1960 to 1962. Good dealer's lot of twenty checks imprinted with his name and rank as General of the Army, Honesdale, Pa., 1957-58, made out and signed by Lemnitzer, making a variety of payments including a $12.00 payment to Gen. Richard C. Partridge (and endorsed by Partridge) who would later liaise closely with the CIA. Very good.
