LYMAN L. LEMNITZER
(1899 - 1988) American general assigned to Eisenhower's staff, helped form the plans for the invasions of North Africa and Sicily and negotiated the Italian and German surrenders, served as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1960 to 1962. A good collection of 26 signed checks, all completed in his hand and drawn on the Honesdale National Bank of Honesdale, Pennsylvania dating between Mar. 5, 1955 and Jan. 19, 1969. Payees include "Esquire", "Reader's Digest", "Nile Temple", "Army Athletic Association", "Life", "The Saturday Evening Post" among others. Also offered together with 23 pages of check stubs from 1978 all kept in his hand. One check toned from tape, else the condition is fine with only marginal wear.

Shipment is sent USPS priority, USPS International Express (for most overseas) or UPS Ground at the auctioneer's option, signature required, unless other arrangements are made. Handling, shipping and insurance charges will be added to the invoice in one entry. Buyer's should be aware that large, framed, fragile or odd shaped items can incur substantial shipping and packing charges. Customer's who supply their own courier account number will still be charged a handling fee.
