Description:

KEYSTONE STEREOVIEW CARDS OF WORLD WAR I WITH VIEWER AND GUIDE
Fine set of approx. 300 7"x 3 1/2" stereoview cards, all depicting scenes of World War I. The set was published by the well-known Keystone View Company, and is housed in three original "Stereographic Library" boxes, labeled Vols. I through IV. The cards depict typical scenes of battle, the advance to the front, destroyed trenches, towns and villages, the wounded and dead, military leaders, the home front, etc. Also present is a handheld stereoviewer, manufactured by Keystone in Meadville, Pennsylvania and housed in an additional library box. Rounding out the collection is an accompanying guide book, "The World War Through the Telebinocular", ed. Major Joseph Mills Hanson (Meadville: Keystone View Company), 1928, 442pp. 8vo., containing a full list of images in the set, as well as numerous essays on various subjects related to the war, fold-out maps, and testimonials from various American military figures praising the stereoview library. Very good overall.
