ANDREW REEDER (1807 - 1864) First Governor of the Territory of Kansas, supported the Kansas-Nebraska Act and was "soft" on the issue of slavery, driven from the state by pro-slavery advocates. A.L.S. 1p. 4to., Easton, June 29, 1850, setting the date of a meeting. Sold with a scarce imprint "Kansas in 1856 An Authentic Account of the Outrages in Kansas, since the appointment of the Kansas Investigating Committee, and not embraced in their Report to the House of Representatives", published by Buell & Blanchard, Washington, 1856, a "scandal sheet" concerning the slavery-motivated attacks at Lawrence, Kansas. Two pieces, very good.
