(Joseph Stalin An exceptional war-dated report made to Stalin detailing German arms captured by Soviet forces. This important report was issued by Major General F. Vakhtov and is marked "Top Secret Copy No. I." The document is 3pp. sm. folio, [n.p,], Nov. 15, 1944 and is headed "Report ON The Work Of Sections and Formations Of The Spoils Service Of The Red Army For Artillery and Rifle-Mortar Armaments". In commemoration of "Armaments Day", Vakhtov submits to Stalin a detailed report of numbers of guns, mortars, machine guns, rifles, sub-machine guns, anti-tank rifles, and ammunition captured in 1943 and includes figures for the first nine months of 1944 For both periods the numbers are staggering: 1,017,691 rifles, 58,800 machine guns, 16,635 mortars and 43 million rounds of ammunition! The general praises his men's bravery and perseverance and mentions ongoing clearance of train depots. The highlight of the lot is a hand-drawn illustrated report, 15.5in x 12in, showing munitions seized in 1944, including recovered Soviet arms, and showing that total material shipped had filled 96,947 railroad cars! All documents are very good, with binding holes in left margins not affecting text.
