Description:

(1942 - 1994) Notorious mass murderer of over thirty young men whom he buried beneath his home, executed after many appeals and postponements. Good content T.L.S. "John", 2pp. 4to., Menard Correctional Center, Oct. 6, 1985. Gacy continues his correspondence with our consignor, a regular pen-pal, by discussing Hurricane Gloria and other natural disasters and continues, in small part: "...Well I was in an art show at the prison this weekend, but I don't know if I sold anything. I put in six pieces of my work which I had done some time ago. The art department never told me about the show until a day before the painting were being picked up and the show was this Sunday... I don't know if I ever told you, but before coming to prison I never did any drawing or art work since getting out of elementary school. The only time I had a need to draw was to change blue prints. Once getting here I started reading art books, began doing some drawing, then got the pastels and just had fun with them... The little talent I have is a gift from God and what I do with it is my gift to God for giving me something to fill out my time while awaiting a new trial. You know it's not the facts in my case which is holding me up, but the publicity and the public pressure that the news media has done to me. I think I would have had a new trial by now, if it hadn't been that the news media as made this monster of me, and any time my name is mention, that's all the public remembers. I think is whats funny, is once people meet me or talk to me over the phone they can't believe they are talking to the same person described by the news media... [all sic]" He continues by giving some detailed information regarding the ownership of the infamous house in which he buried the majority of his victims, and rather incredibly transmits a photo of a model of the house which he has constructed while in prison, showing its layout at the time of his arrest. This photo is also presented here, along with a retained copy of the letter from his correspondent to which Gacy is responding and his original transmittal envelope. Shows original mailing folds, else fine.
