Adams", 1p. 4to., Quincy, Oct. 23, 1832 to Mary E. Roberdeau, most likely the daughter of Daniel Roberdeau (1727-1795), represented Pennsylvania from 1777 to 1779 in the Continental Congress. Adams thanks the lady for her: "...present of an elegant and useful purse, the work of your own hands...be assured that your gift shall be as perpetual an appendage to my person as the Red Ribband of the Bath was to that of Sir William Draper...I shall have [it] in my pocket, which is better than money - a token of your friendly regard...we are again preparing for our flight Southward. My son Charles and his family have spent the Summer with us, and are to return to Boston, as we depart for Washington..." Very good.
