JOHN PENN
(1729 - 1795) Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and grandson of William Penn, he was a Loyalist during the Revolution and consequently lost most control over his holdings. Partly-printed D.S. "John Penn" as Lieutenant Governor, 1p. oblong folio, Philadelphia, 1774, ordering Edmund Phisick to affix the great seal of Pennsylvania to a patent granted to Isaac Wikoff for land in Northampton County. Minor chips at bottom margin, usual folds, else very good. Offered together with RICHARD PENN (1736 - 1811) partly-printed D.S. "Richd Penn" 1p. oblong legal folio, Philadelphia, Aug. 5, 1773, filled out in his hand, being a grant onto William Graham of Cumberland County, a tract of 300 acres "on a Flat of Tusses[?] Mounton nearly opposite the West End of Nittany hill including the Old Beaver Dam and a fresh Water Pond in the county of Northumberland " Countersigned by surveyor-general JOHN LUKENS. Toned along weak folds reinforced on verso, minor marginal losses, else very good. Also offered together with a partly-printed D.S. bearing John Penn's secretarial signature, 1p. folio on vellum, [Philadelphia], Dec 10, 1794, a deed between the Penns and Paul Everhardt for a 349 acre tract in Franklin Township, Westmoreland County. Usual folds, else very good condition. Together, three pieces.
