(1722 - 1805) Colonial Governor of Massachusetts who led an expedition to Penobscot to block French attacks. Partly-printed D.S. as Governor of Massachusetts, 1p. oblong folio, Boston, Oct. 13, 1759, an appointment of Thomas How Jr. as a "Captain of the third Military foot Company in the Town of Marlborough..." Moderate uneven toning , partial separations at folds, backed with 19th century paper, else good. Offered together with WILLIAM PEPPERELL (1696 - 1759) A.D.S. 1p. oblong 8vo., [n.p.] June 4, 1729, a receipt for "...fifty seven pounds & fourteen shillings ... " Usual folds, trimmed at top, else very good.
