All her property was in bank stock & the difficulties which our banks experience are such that they will probably make no dividends…She says that some money has been for several years in the hands of Mr. Marshall & she knows not how to get it from him…I wrote to him and offering to become security & declaring my readiness to execute any writing which might be deemed necessary…I have never heard a syllable on the subject…Will you my dear Sir have the goodness to explain this affair to me & say what is wanting…My sister says a Colonel or Major Butler has some business of hers in his hands. Can you tell me where he resides?'. On integral address leaf letterhead, with middle fold reinforced with archival tape and several small holes, otherwise very good.
